The old Mongu airstrip is in the centre of the township which is on a spur of high ground projecting into the Zambesi flood plain. Mongu Club is the white, thatched building to the left of the open space in the centre. In the foreground is a forestry station.

Mongu Airport. The de Havilland Beaver flew in twice a week from Lusaka and Livingston. It carried five passengers and mail.

This Hunting Clan Dakota supplemented the Beaver in Barotseland, providing much increased capacity.
