My colleague Don Clarke and I were chuffed to be thanked in public by a Government Minister for our services to the country, just prior to our departure. Later, I asked the Chief Inspector of Schools, Paul Bowles, who had written the speech. He smiled. We agreed that the Minister did not have to read what Paul had written, but he did.
